The maker exquisitely carved the agarwood into a carving of two phoenix soaring down towards the flowering peony branches. The agarwood is in a deep brown tone and is finely carved in the round as two phoenix with elaborate plumage and long tails. The carving is magnificent in showing the naturalistically detailed feathers and the movement of the phoenix. This pair of mythical beasts nestle amidst flowering branches of peony. The reticulated boxwood stand is carved in the form of a magnolia tree.
