The olive-shaped vase is beautifully potted, with the profile rising in three elegant curves to incorporate the body swelling from the splayed foot and with a slightly everted mouth rim. The exterior superbly painted in cobalt blue with two deer in the mountains and rocks, with the pine growing from rock amid small shrubs and curving up and around the vase. The doe is walking towards the buck while he twisted the head backwards. The deer meticulously painted with spotted fur or mottled coats. Brunches of the pine covered half of the upper register of the vase with the rest left blank. The image perfectly combines the traditional Chinese ink painting aesthetics and the western technique of representative skills.
