Ruxintangzhi Four-Character Mark
PROVENANCE
· The Si Yue Tang Collection
The square cup potted with faceted body， with a flat base flaring to a gilt rim， painted to each side with the landscape in famille-rose， with pavilions， cottages， trees and rocks in continuous mountain view， presenting an idealistic scene of countryside. The base with a four-character mark ‘Ruxintangzhi （Consigned by Ruxin Hall）’. There is no existing record for the Ruxin Hall， for the similar square cup marked with ‘Consigned by Chenghuai Garden’， where the Garden is located near the Old Summer Palace. This cup is probably made in the same period for the same purpose.
