PROVENANCE
Acquired directly from the artist by the former owner.
From the Collection of Mr. Gao Yongzheng. He studied at Central Academy of Arts and Design,and was a student of Hiunkin Pang and Wu Guanzhong. In 1972,he teached at Qingdao Craftwork Art School,and kept a close relationship with Pang via written letters.
Attached with a written statement regarding the provenance from Mr. Gao Yongzheng,and photos of his letters with Pang.

《灌水渠》、《回忆磁器口》两幅作品所呈现出的和谐完美的形式美感,以及浓郁的音乐般的韵律感,正是庞熏琹典型的七八十年代风景画的特点,即绘画形式感极富原创性,又融合了中国画的精粹,在当时的中国西画家群中是首屈一指的,其“行和色的和谐,章法的构成,他们本身是一种趣味,是纯粹绘画(傅雷)”。早在1925年法国之行,并在回国后精心研究民间美术,进而转向工艺美术,以期在艺术上自成一派。从创办中国第一个现代艺术团体,到研究历代装饰纹样,到筹建中国第一所高等工艺美术学院,他以超前的理念执着投入艺术创作,都缘于他一生的艺术要求:“观夫今日中国艺术精神之颓废,与中国文化之日趋堕落,辄深自痛心……一,力求自我之进步,二,集数人之力或能有所贡献于世人……(摘自庞熏琹《决澜社小史》)”。
传统山水画是参照名山大川,而不拘于客观真实,强调神似而非形似,强调胸中逸气而非客观模拟,万里山河任意移动组合。庞熏琹画的是油画风景,但不拘于写生,根据个人观察体会,先作速写扼要记录,然后摆脱细枝末节,重新组合构图,抓住第一印象感觉,确定大色调后,运用油画的色彩表达语言,集中西艺术之长,树个人独特之风格。70年代远没有今天的条件,但他拿油画笔用中国方式画写意的油画风景,造型严谨、色彩淡雅、格调清新、用笔精炼、意味深远,体现了其在“决澜社”中所呼唤的“用新的技法表现新的时代精神”的中西融合的艺术风格。观者非但看不出画家历经生命浩劫时的怅怀,反而愈发感受到画家超凡脱俗、潇洒超脱的人生哲学。就此而论,古稀之年身处逆境仍未减当年“决澜”之勇,令人对画家始终如一的艺术“天真”感怀动容。
