This fine month cup belongs to the set of twelve floral month cups, finely potted with steep gently curved sides rising from a short tapering foot to a slightly everted rim, delicately painted and enamelled with a flowering chrysanthemum emblamatic of autumn, the leafy plant amidst smaller flowers and rockwork, the reverse with a ten character poem in underglaze blue. The base writes in underglaze blue with a six-characters Kangxi mark within a circle.

A thousand fills of wine drunk in a plain white robe.
Throughout the whole life fragrant like a young woman.
