Anna Hu is an international jewelry designer who approaches her art with a distinctly East meets Westphilosophy and aesthetic that is heavily influenced by both cultures. She has studied at New England Conservatory,the Gemological Institute of America, F.I.T., Parsons School of Design (Masters, 19th century FrenchJewelry) and Columbia University (Masters, Arts Administration). After working for Christie’s, Van Cleef &Arpels, and Harry Winston, she founded her namesake brand, Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie, at the age of 30 andopened her first boutique one year later in New York’s famed Plaza Hotel.
ANNA HU has been making history ever since its establishment in 2007. In April 2012, Anna had her firstexhibition at the Musée du Louvre in France. The year after in Geneva, her piece ’Cote d’Azur Brooch’ hasset the record of the highest price for a contemporary jewelry artist and a Burmese sapphire at Christie’s. In2019, her ‘Dunhuang Pipa Necklace’ has set the record of highest price for a contemporary Chinese jewelryartist at Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
In 2017, brand’s debut at La Biennale Paris draws immensely positive feedback from connoisseurs around theworld as well as international press attention from publications such as The New York Times, Forbes, RobbReport, Vogue, Blouin Shop Magazine, etc. In 2018, Anna Hu becomes the first Asian contemporary jewelryartist whose signature creation – CHINA RED Magpie Brooch – is included into the permanent collection ofThe State Historical Museum in Moscow Kremlin. Anna Hu’s jewelry pieces are also favored by many celebritiessuch as Madonna, Natalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow, who have worn them on red carpets.
Anna’s techniques fuses elements of the east and the west, with inspiration from her love of classical musicand modern contemporary art, as well as her enthusiasm in exploring new possibilities in jewelry. All ofAnna Hu’s pieces are created in workshops in Paris and New York by the most skilled craftsmen that havebeen making jewelry using the most complicated traditional methods.
