CHAMELEON」
Chameleon diamonds were first documented in 1943, and since then, there is very little information about them existing in gemmological literature, which further proves the rarity of the gem stone. As the name implies, the colour of the stone changes temporarily when gently heated, or when left in darkness for a period of time. In 2005, the GIA published the first extensive report on chameleon diamonds, after having studied a sample of 39 of the gems in sizes ranging from 0.29 to 1.93 ct. As noted in the article, the most common colour change observed in chameleon diamonds is from “olive” green to brownish yellow or yellow. To date, the origin of the color change is still not known by gemmologists.
This exquisite diamond ring features a heart-shaped Chameleon diamonds weighing 5.01 carats. As GIA indicated, among the rare collections of colored diamonds encountered throughout history, ‘chameleon’ diamonds may be the most mysterious. GIA has also developed a Portrait Report entitled “The Chameleon Diamond Necklace” detailing this extraordinary phenomenon. Its fantastic color changing effect and spectacular beauty makes the stone definitely worthy for a rare treasure collection.
