The unusual blue-green Paraiba tourmaline was first discovered in the Brazilian state of Paraiba in 1989. Now the “neon-bright ” paraiba tourmalines are one of the most sought-after gems in the world.
These gems had an unusual vivid blue-green that had never been seen before in any gemstone. Paraiba tourmalines typically have “neon” colors that are brighter than we find in Tourmalines without copper. They appeared to glow with a neon or electric-like quality, even in the rough stone. Analysis showed that this unique effect was due to the presence of copper and manganese. Al -though there are new finds of copper-bearing tourmaline in Nigeria and Mozambique in 2001 and 2 005, still, the paraiba tourmaline from Brazil possess the most mesmerising vivid blue-green color among them all.
This lot is one of the rarest. It is a 4.06 carats Brazilian Paraiba tourmaline. With its vivid color, distinctive texture, this is an extremely rare and precious treasure without doubts.
