KASHMIR
As one of the world’s major colored gemstones, sapphire has been respected and pursued by various cultures all over the world since ancient times. Among the sapphires,Kashmir mountains is regarded as priceless. Kashmir is the northernmost mountainous region on the border between India,Pakistan and China. Here, the Himalayas, the Karakoram and the Hindu Kush converge on the move, creating an infinite force of impact and convergence. The visible surface of the earth forms a spectacular landscape of jagged rocks and glaciers, lakes and waterfalls. What’s more, the movement of the continental plates creates conditions of high temperature and high pressure where limestone comes into direct contact with the invading pegmatites, and where kashmiri environments are rare.
The Kashmiri gem deposit was discovered in 1881 after a landslide in the Zaska Mountains in the Himalayas. Due to the perpetual snow, harsh weather, and volatile political situation caused by extreme altitude, the deposit was only intermittently mined between 1881 and 1887,and the production of raw ore was minimal. It was mined out in the 1920s,and new deposits have not been discovered since. For this reason, the Kashmiri sapphire is still available in very small quantities today, and its high quality not only sets the standard for all sapphires,it has become almost a myth.
The resulting sapphire has legendary quality and many of its characteristics are synonymous with the finest sapphire. Kashmir sapphire is particularly famous for its highly saturated deep blue to pure blue hue. Gemstones often contain extremely fine filamentous inclinations, which can show the soft velvet texture like silk in the hard and strong metal texture of the sapphire. The hardness and softness of the blue color exhibited by the most top Kashmir sapphire can make anyone who has seen it with his own eyes feel deeply touched.
We are honored to present an 11.48 Carat Kashmir sapphire ring set in this auction for collectors, which shows the precious glory. The vivid, intense, stunning blue is evenly distributed in the sapphire, with a soft, warm glow from the inside out. The Kashmir sapphire is the only sapphire in the collection, each worthy of generations.
