"Justice"is undoubtedy one of the most common motifs or themes in Liao Guohe’s paintings. Before and after that. He had painted 40-50 large and small paintings. In this series of works, the anti-symbolism and sense of illusion implied in the word “Justice" are expressed through very simple and immature pattern games. In China, "writing black characters on white paper" is commonly seen as drawing a contract; western countries alike, by their natural law, view the freedom of contract as the premise of justice. Whereas, confusing white and black, I.e. right and wrong, is unjustified. So to speak, the reason why Liao employs black background and white charac ters can also be seen as a metaphor of “confusing white and black, ”an anti- ustice behavior, though audiences see justice the characters at first.
