Beijing Poly Auction will hold on its principles of Real, Exquisite and Rare for its 2012 spring sale and present ¡°Jinggang Mountains¡± of LI Keran. This painting is not only a masterpiece of LI Keran¡¯s painting under the theme of Chinese Democratic Revolution, but also the largest work collected by the non-official collector which also reaches the standards of museum¡¯s collection. This painting was created in 1976. Most of LI Keran¡¯s paintings under the theme of ¡°Jinggan Mountains¡± are created in the 1970s and the 1980s. The theme reflects a special historic and cultural background and is the fruit of the painter¡¯s unparalleled diligence. Judged from the process of creation and its large size, this painting is created as a political task; meanwhile, it goes beyond the political significance and reaches a lofty artistic state. Its significance as a landscape painting of LI Keran and as artistic creation in a special period of time turns this painting into a epic of the time.
